The RNIB accessible Flash game for Valentine's day

About the game

"This is the first time a game this sophisticated and this much fun has been designed so that blind and partially sighted internet users can play too. We asked Nomensa to create a visually stunning game that blind people who use adapted computers that turn text into speech would be also able to play. And they've come up trumps! We hope that more web designers will realise that they can create exciting, colourful games that don't exclude people with sight problems." Julie Howell , RNIB Campaigns Officer

Project outline

The 'RNIB Blind Date' game is an interactive story, the aim is to get through the date with the best outcome. The user is presented with a number of choices: where to go on a date, what to do, what to say, etc. Depending on the choices made by the user and the chosen personality determines the outcome of the date. The user has a number of interaction points within the date and things can either go extremely well or very, very badly.

Everyone has a few tales to tell about funny dates they have been on regardless of ability or status. The game uses sound throughout to bring humour to the interaction and animations are shown incorporating many of the great functionalities currently offered by Macromedia Flash.
